Maria Nero has over 25 years of financial aid experience working in private, public, and proprietary institutions. She holds a Bachelors in Accounting, a Masters in Management/Public Relations, and an MBA. She has helped thousands of parents and students over the years to apply for financial aid assistance using the FAFSA and the CSS Profile.
Her inside knowledge of how an institution views your data will allow her to explain how your financial situation will affect your ability to receive need-based and non-need based assistance and what type of award packages you are more likely to receive. She is also an expert on student loans, from applying to repayment, and can assist you during all steps of the process – helping you find the best way to keep your student loan payments manageable.
She also understands what institutions can consider as special circumstances or appeal situations in order to have your financial aid award offers reconsidered and can help you work with schools to improve your aid.
Maria Nero’s experience has given her insight into how various institutions view your family’s financial position. She has worked at large public state universities (top 25), private universities (top 10), and also smaller career schools.
She has held many roles including Director and other executive/leadership positions. Based on this, she understands what colleges look at when determining your ability to pay for your student’s education and how you can make adjustments that may improve your changes of increased need-based aid.
As a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators , the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and the Tri-State Association of Delaware, District of Columbia, and Maryland. Ms. Nero stays abreast of the constant changes in financial aid. She attends annual Federal Student Aid conferences as well as other training to ensure that she has the most up-to-date information for her clients.
She also provides presentations, seminars, and workshops to help others navigate the world of college financial aid. In addition to this, Mrs. Nero is available to help college financial aid offices during peak processing times.
